This high-quality version is approximately 5.5 cm thick and consists of a high-density core of rice straw, wrapped in an igusa grass mat.

The edge is finished with a black cotton ribbon (Beri).

Benefits: The Tatami High Quality is ideal for living and meditation spaces.

Compared to the Tatami-Standard, the core of the Tatami High Quality is significantly more tightly compressed.

It is about 1 cm higher and approximately 30% heavier than the standard Tatami.

Due to its higher stability, the Tatami High Quality is better suited for walking on or other intensive use.

Important notes: Although the High Quality Tatami is more resistant, it is traditionally customary to enter it without shoes, just like the other Tatami mats, only in socks or barefoot.

This is not only to prevent contamination but also due to the material’s sensitivity.

For example, shoes with thin heels could depress the igusa grass layer.

The Tatami High Quality is not suitable for martial arts dojos.

As Tatami mats are a natural product, their color changes over time.

The initially green mats turn light yellow over time.

Direct sunlight slightly accelerates this process.

This is not a defect but a natural process.
