The Flora Japonica collection is inspired by Dutch botanists who centuries ago brought back new plant species from Japan.

It’s all about exploring and admiring the Japanese flora.

National treasures like the fine-leafed maple, the heart-shaped katsura, beautiful white pine trees, and one of the oldest trees on earth, the ginkgo biloba, have found a place in our collection.

Among these beautiful trees, you will also find a Japanese phenomenon: the dancing cranes.

The creative cross-pollination between Japan and the Netherlands dates back to the 16th and 17th centuries.

The Dutch developed Delft blue, which over time became so popular, was actually their own artistic interpretation from Japan in return.

With Tokyo Design Studio, we celebrate these cross-cultural collaborations from the past and add a new chapter by giving a unique European twist to the traditional Japanese pattern.

Most of our products are made in Japan using a craft method perfected over the last 400 years.
