Product description
The Flora Japonica collection is inspired by Dutch botanists reintroducing new plant species in Japan centuries ago.
It’s all about exploring and admiring Japanese flora.
National treasures like the fine-leafed maple, heart-shaped katsura, beautiful white pine trees, and one of the oldest living fossils, the ginkgo biloba, have found a place in our collection. Amidst these beautiful trees, you will also find a Japanese phenomenon: the dancing cranes.
Do you share our love for Japanese nature? The creative cross-pollination between Japan and the Netherlands dates back to the 16th and 17th centuries when the Dutch imported porcelain from the Orient.
The Dutch developed Delft blue, which over time became so popular, incorporating its own artistic interpretations from Japan in return.
With Tokyo Design Studio, we celebrate these cross-cultural collaborations from the past and add a new chapter by giving a unique European twist to traditional Japanese patterns and tableware design. Most of our products are made in Japan using a craft method perfected over the last 400 years.
Our products are twice fired, then hand-painted in one color per piece, glazed, and fired again.
Throughout the entire process, careful quality control is applied to ensure each Tokyo Design Studio product is of the highest quality.
Our collection includes porous plates, bowls, and cups in various sizes.
Each product is dishwasher safe and microwave safe.
